STOCK SALE REPORTS.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows : - We held our monthly pale in the Pukekohe yards last Monday, and had an extra large yarding of ca'tle. Buyers were in attendance from far and near, and all descriptions of stock met with a keen sal*. The advertised store steers were an exceptionally fine lot, and realised record prices Forty-three from Mr Ednard Muir, Te Hirua, Onewhero, averaged £l6 3s 9d ; another draft of 79 from Waikato Heads averaged £ls 8s 9d; the half-bred Polled Angus steers fr<>m Wairamarama made fr-un £l3 10s to £l-5 17s Vve quote: Fat and forward 3A t) 4.J----year-old steors, £ls 15s to £lO 19s, less-conditioned four to tive-year-old £ls to £l6 7s, three, to four-year-old £l2 10s to £l4 15s, two to three - year-old £9 10s to £l2 ss, yearling to 18 months £6 15s to £8 10s; heifers, same age, £5 10-s to £7 10s; forward empty cows, £9 15s to £11; fresh empty cows, £8 to £9 10s; aged store cows, £6 to £7 15s; this season's calves, £3 to £3 14s; fat bulls, £M) 10s to £l6; small and hss-conditioned bulls, £7 to £lO. The beef pens contained 176 head, and all sold easily at Westfield rates. Dairy cjws and heifers £8 to £ls 10s, according to quality. On Wednesday, at our weekly Westtield fat stock market, our supply of fat cattle numbered 427 head, comprising 255 steers, 163 cows and heifers, and 9 bulls. The quality was well up to recent markets. Competition was extra keen, and generally values were firmer. Choice ox sold to £2 10s, prime £2 7s to £2 9s; rough beef £1 15s to £2 3s; cows and heifers, £1 17s to £2 6s; steers ranged in price from £l4 10s to £23; cows and heifers, £8 10s to £lB 10s. The highest averages for steers inoluded 17 from Mr James Potter, Pukekawa, £l9 8s Id; 5 from Mr Sya. Fjyie, Pukekawa, £lB 16s' 12 from Mr J. Crawford, Otaua, £l7 19s 2d; 12 from Mr Charles Bischoff, Waiuku, £l7 3s 4d. The sheep pens were well filled with a nice class of mutton. There was a strong demand throughout, last week's advance being sustained. Extra heavy prime shorn wethers, £1 17s 6d to £1 19s 6d ; a few pens of prime woolly wethers, £2 6s to £2 9s 6d ; heavy prime shorn wether*, £1 15s to £1 17s; medium to heavy thorn wethers, £1 13 to £1 lis 9d ; light and unfinished shorn wethers, £l 9s to £ 1 12s 9d ; best shorn ewes £1 9sto£l 13s; other shorn ewes, £1 2s to £1 8s 6d; shorn hoggets, £1 6d to £1 12s; 1309 sold. Lambs again penned short of requirements and sold at last week's extreme values. Best heavy prime, £ 1 9s to £1 12s 3d; good lambs, £1 5s 6d to £1 8s 6d ; others, £1 Is to £1 5?. 165 sold. Fat and young calves were penned in smaller numbers than of late, and showed an improvement in price. Runners made from £7 15s to £9 15s; heavy vealers, £5 to £6 4s; medium, £3 15s to £4 19 a, lighter, £2 18s to £3 12; light, £2 to £2 16s; small £l 8s to £1 18s; fresh-dropped, 5s to £1 7s. 55 told. There was a full yarding of pigs. Choppers and heavy bacon ers were dull of sale, with other sorts slightly better, and stores are short of requirements and wanted. Choppers sold from £3 10s to £4 4s; heavy baconers, £3 2s to £3 6s; medium, £2 18s to £3 ; light, £2. 13s to £2 17s ; large porkers, £2 8s to £2 12s ; smaller, £2 2s to £2 7s; small, £1 15s to £2; slips, £1 8s to £1 14s; weaners, £l to £1 6s. 260 sold.
