The financial position of the Franklin County Council was explained by the clerk (Mr Alan P Day) at the Council's meeting on Wednesday. Ho reported that the Council's expenditure on works in ridiugs since Aprilllst out of general revenue had totalled £7527 which with the debit balance brought forward of £3339 and the estimated general expenses for the year exhausted the estimated rate revenue for the year of £13343. Consequently expenditure from date to March 31st would have to be met from overdraft. He added that the amount expended on public works including grants and loans had been £10,542 from April Ist to date (is compared with 4' 1 '2,1.'.2 for tlio ffhole of the previous year Woods' Orent Peppermint Cnrp.
