MARAMARUA.

A very pleasant afternoon was spent at the Maramarua Public School grounds on Saturday last, when the Maramarua Tennis Club opened their new court. The chairman of the local School Committee, Mr James Appleby, in a very suitable address, opened the court. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies to a large gathering, visitors being present from Miranda and surrounding districts. During the afternoon a strong club was formed with Mr Appleby in the chair and Mrs T. S. C. McElroy being reelected secretary and treasurer. A good exposition of the game was given till the light faded and the gathering adjourned after a very enjoyable day.
