WAR MACHINERY.
IMPORTANT SEIZURES IN NEUTRAL MAILS.
Further revelations of the manner m which the Germans use the mails or neutral countries for the importation of war machinery were macie recently at tho Prize Court, London, when ap plication was made for the condemmtion of a. number of packages. It was stated that they were parts of machinery intended for munitions and trenchdrilling, and were intended for the German Army. The machinery was captured on its way from America, an 1 was made up small in 300 postal packages.
Sir Samuel Evans said it was to hj" handed over to the Crown, who desired ti use it in making British munitions. The machinery included twist drills, and was chiefly sent by the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. to a Danish gentleman, but letters secretly intercepted completely prove that this gentleman was to receive on behalf of a Germ mi company carrying on Business at Berlin. Other parcels of machinery were sent by the Union Steam Pump Co., of Michigan, to the same Danish consignee. The Crown very much desirel to have the goods, consequently they would not; be sold in the ordinary course, but would be handed over to the proper authorities for immediato use.
Other letter parcels contained tea. tobacco, brass fittings, and Germanmade chemicals.
