The Duke of Devonshire, the now Governor-General of Canada is a man of few words. It is relat '<l that, soon after liis accssion to tiro title, lie visited a provincial city, and entering the town hall where l;r was to address a mooting, was greeted liy a flimsy and pompous official with the exclamation. "What the devd arc yon doing here?"
To this the Duke, quite unperturbed, replied in two words —"God knows" — and passed on. Later the official discovered the identity of the man he. had mistaken for an intruder, and started to make i lengthy and profuse apology. But the Duke cut him short in tho middle with, "'Nuff said."'
