WAIROA ROAD BOARD.

Monthly Meeting. *

The regular monthly meeting of j the above authority, held yesterday, I was attended by Messrs A. D. Bell (chairman), J. McConaughey, W. Duder and J. Luke, with the clerk, Mr A. E. Bailey. The Papakura Valley Road Board made an offer to defray half the cost of forty 9-inch pipes and the laying of them on the junction of Parish line and McDonald's road.—lt tfas decided to leave the matter of ordering the pipes in abeyance until the site was inspected to judge if 9 inch pipes are sufficient. With a view of soliciting the Board's action in respect to blackberries growing on an absentee owner's section, rented by Mr Ghezzi, Mr J. H. Alexander waited on the Board. He gaid that the section adjoined his, and that th<?re would be a danger in the summer of the blackberries catching on tire unless something was done in the way of eradicating them —As it was doubtful whether the Board had power to comply with applicant's request it was decided to obtain legal advice thereon.

The practise of cattle straying on the roads was the subject of complaint by members, who considered that the Boird's ranger was not sufficiently active.—No action was taken

It was agreed to tender for a shed to be sold by the Clevedon A and P. Association, it being considered that it would be suitable for the storage of harness, horse-feed, etc. In connection with a proposal to form the old Wairoa road, the Board decided that uless the property owners cleared the frontages to their property they wjuld take no further action.

The chairman stated that a report and estimate of the proposed Taka-nini-Clevedon road. had been submitted to the Manukau County Council by its foreman, Mr J. Dixon, and after giving consideration thereto the Council hid decided not to proceed further with the scheme, as a difficulty would have been experienced in obtaiuing assistance from the Papakura Valley riding towards the estimated cost of £2500, the greatest proportion o! which that district would have had to bear. Further, very little inducement was given by the owners of property on the route, with the exception of Mr Hanch.
