METHODIST HOME MISSION.
Methodist Home Missions were advocated in the local Methodist churches last Sunday, but heavy rain interfered very seriously with the attendances.
The deputation was the Bev. H. A. Sharp, of Birkenhead, who gave stirring &&d thoughtful addresses on the subject of Home Mission enterprise, and while the rain held off good responses in attendance were made.
On Monday evening the Buckland meeting was held, and was very successful. Opportunity was taken to welcome several new Methodist families to the district. Mr O. G. Avery and the Minister (the Bev. J. B. Suckling) welcomed the newcomers and Messrs Rodgers, Backhouse and Civil, on their behalf, responded, each expressing their pleasure in coming to Buckland, and trusting to find spheres of usefulness in the church. Musical items and refreshments contributed to make a very pleasant evening. The Tuakau meeting was held on Tuesday night and there was a good attendance to hear the deputation.
Pukekohe meeting on Wednesday was marred by showery weather though a fair number of person were able to be present. Heavy rain made it imperative k postpone the meetings advertised for Bombay and Mauku on Thursday and Friday respectively and theee will be held shortly.
