ONEWHERO.

On Thursday last the long-ex-pected visit of Mrs Parkes to Onewhero eventuated. Mr Ted Muir was kind enough to put his car, with himself as chauffeur, at her disposal and the visitor expressed her delight in the view of the whole district which a drive of some hours afforded. The enchanting view of the Waikato river from Punt Hill; with its spring glory of the verdant willows, elicited special admiration. That view and stretch of river would make the fortune of any district in Australia In the evening a crowded audience listened intently to Mrs Parks' lecture on the medical arrangements for the wounded from the time they fall in,the firing line to the time they return to their regiment or back to the arms of their loved ones. The charts and the various anecdotes which illustrated her address, were special features of a most instructive evening. The chairman, Councillor Moore, having suitably thanked Mrs Parkes, called on the gathering to show appreciation in a substantial way, and £ll Is 6d was the very creditable sum collected. Songs were given by Mr and Mrs Bark, and the evening ended with a dance.
