LIEUTENANT W. K. DOUGALL.

KILLED IN ACTION

Lieut. W. K. Dougall, killed in action on Septenilx-r 15th, was the second son of Mr. J. J. Dougall, of Christchurch. Tho above reproduction of a childhood photograph pathetically illustrates the tragedy of war. The bonnie wee laddie's father was himself a soldier, and taught the little fellow to salute. Thus it may be said that the gallant officer who lias just given his life for the cause of humanity was a soldier from birth. Hit; brave mother, writing to her niece at Kni Iwi says: "Walter was so happy in li'i* worlc, and ho just loved being a soldier, so that wo must not regret him. It was better he died than lived as lots of men are living to-day."
