CLEVEDON.
A cowardly trick was recently attempted to be played on Mr Alex. Dow by some youths who placed a large box full of road metal at a spot Mr Dow was to drive over on a very dark night. The horse shied clear of the obstacle and an accident was narrowly averted. The gate removing fiends are on the warpath again. A quiet visit from a representative of the law would tend to check such childish pastime. An old man named Ashington was knocked to the ground the other day by a boy riding a bicycle on the footpath without a light. The old gentleman says the boy was exceeding all speed limits.
