THE 'HINDENBUG BUBBLE.'

Colonel frablonsky, in a review of Situation created by rlmdenburgs appointment as the Chief of th> Germ n General Staff, foretells the bursting of what he terms the " HuiuvnLurg bulble." Ho writes: —

Never was a military reputation made so easily as that of Hindenburg. He lias achieved one success ic the war, and that was attained under abnormal military conditions. The Russians, in defiance of all strategic rules, had pushed forward into East Piussia tor the solo purpose, of the pressure in France. It was not u military but a political move. The Russians knew that it produced no really satisfactory military results to them.selves: it was" a diversion lor a particular object. Hindenburg was artificially fabricated into a German Hero. HindeiW burg's sub.-emicnt successes, such as they were, had no real military merit. They were gained when the Russian armies wire devoid of munitions and even of sufficient arms. How different now! Hindenburg must rescue the Imperial armies or lose his reputation (made in Germany) of s'.perhunian qualities. Those who under>tand the science of war regard H.ndenburg pitted against Brussiioff as a bull driven to fight against a machine-gun. The next few months will burst the Hindenburg bubble and destroy the Hindenburg myth. With this Germany s uavkening will be much nearer.
