(See also Page 1). On Thursday evening last at his father's residence Private E. Hunt was farewelled by his friends at proceedings which took the form of a concert and dinner, presided over by Mr D. Wilson. Musical items were rendered by Messrs D. Wilson, Harrison and C. Mills, Miss A. Mills giving a recitation. Mr Ashurst acted as accompanist. Several toasts were also honoured. On Saturday, the 7th inst., the official opening of the bowling greens took place in the presence of a large assembly, amongst which were representatives of Auckland, Pukekohe and Papatoetoe clubs The ceremony was performed by the president, Mr E. D. McLennan, who made a happy little speech. The sport was entered into with a good spirit and a pleasant interlude was the serving of afternoon tea by the ladies.
Mr R. Gillespie, chairman of the Town Board, hopes to be in a position to submit a report appertaining to the proposed removal of the sale yards at the next meeting of the Town Board. He has interviewed Mr Bodle, manager of the New Zealand Loan and M.A. Company, and arrangements have been completed whereby the owners of the property, the Methodist Trustees, will also be interviewed.
