Duke, by Major, imp., from a grey trotting mare, imp. Young Drover's dam was Drover, the well-known trotting mare, half-sister to the trotting mare, Ida, being from the same dam. Drover was the winner of many trotting races, and proved herself very fast. Drover was by Barber. Barber by the Australian thoroughbred, The Barb. Young Drover is a beautiful bay with black points and stands 15 hands 2\i in. high. He is an exceptionally well built horse. Full of quality, a great mover, and fast in his paces. Note.—Young Drover has proved himself a sire of exceptional merit, and transmits to his progeny that which he himself possesses, a kindly disposition a good constitution, and the best action. Young Drover's stock are meeting favour in the show-riug. Field Marshall (late Rainbow), by Young Drover, during last season gained 11 first, and two championships. It will be seen that Prince Elgin is bred from champion show-ring stock on both sides, and that he is descended from the best stock ever imported to New Zealand. Prince Elgin was exhibited at the Auckland Show as a yearling and again as a two-year-old, and was awarded first honours on each occasion. Prince Elgin is a rich dark brown in colour, with white blaze on face, and white feet. He is a well grown and powerfully built horse, stand about 17 hands high. He has a great set.of limbs, plenty of good, sound, ciean bone, and the best of feet, good, clean, flat; soupd hocks, and is a straight moving light actioned horse. He is also of a very kindly disposition, and a sure foal getter. His stock show good quality and plenty of size. Prince Elgin will travel to Mauku each Wednesday, Otaua and Aka Aka, Friday. pion, (imp ) The pedigree of Heather Brae, could be greatly extended, but from the direct outline given, it will be seen that he is an exceptionally well-bred horse. His sire, Royal Crown, is well-known throughout New Zealand and Australia as a breeder and sire of many champions, including Royal Scotch, Champion at Brisbane; Mount Royal, Champion at Sydney; Gowen Brae, champion at Hawera ; and Heather Brae, the chamion of the Auckland province. ring record:—As a two-year-old, Ist and reserve chumpion, Hawera; Ist and champion, New Plymouth. As a three-year-old, Ist and champion, Hamilton; Ist and champion and winner of a L's guinea silver cup, at Auckland; Ist and reserve champion, Cambridge. As a four-year-old, Ist and reserve champion, Auckland ; 2nd Pukekohe ; Ist and champion, Cambridge, At 5 years of age he was only shown once, when he was awarded the champion honours at the Waikato Show at Hamilton. It will be seen that he has a show ring record hard to beat in the Dominion. Heather Brae possesses all the qualities of the modern Clydesdale, namely, plenty of size, beautiful quality, and great action. The services of this fine horse should be in great demand, ah he is absolutely one of the best sires at the present time in the North Island.
