(See also Page 1). WAIKATO HEADS DROWNING ACOIDENT. THE BODY RECOVERED. The body of the unfortunate man. Mr Griffiths Charles (Ken) Entwhistle, who was drowned at the Waikato Heads on Sunday, October Ist, from Mr Alfred Lap wood's launch, was seen floating in the sea between the Waiuku Gap and Port Waikato Heads yesterday by a Mr Gheezi and on being recovered was taken by Constable Fearnley to the Waiuku Couithouse, where later in the day an inquest was opened before Mr W. J. King, district coroner After evidence of identification had been given by the widow, Mrs Entwhistle, Frederick List, builder, of Tuakau, and partner of deceased, deposed that he was one of the launch party, including the deceased and Mrs Entwhistle, that went on an excursion to Port Waikato. All the party landed on the beach, with the exception of Mr Alfred Lapwood and the deceased. When witness was some distance along the beach deceased's wife ran up to him and said that there was something wrong with her husband. He returned and found the launch alongside the river bank, partly afloat. Mr Lapwood said that " Ken " was in the river There was a four gallon keg of beer on board, but all the party were perfectly sober. They searched unsuccessfully for an hour for the body. The party remained on the beach all night, Mr Cobourne conveying them back to Tuakau in a launch the following morning. Deceased was sober at the time of the accident

Mrs Entwhistle, on being recalled, corroborated the first portion of the evidence of the previous witness, and added that the first intimatiou she had of anything being wrong was seeing Mr Lapwood hurrying towards the women and telling them of the accident. Witness denied having said to List that there was something wrong with "Ken."

At this stage the proceedings were adjourned to be resumed to-day at lpm.
