MERCER.
BODY FOUND THE RIVER. The body of an unknown man was found in the Waikato river, about live miles above Mercer yesterday. By its appearance it bad been in the river lor about three weeks. Ihe only clue to identification of the body is an enlistment ticket in one of the deceased's pockets bearing the name ot "J. Brandwood," but the document is partially obliterated by the effects of submersion. The remains, which are those of a young man, about 22 years of age, clean shaven and about 6ft in height, were brought to Mercor, where an an inquest will be opened this afternoon by the District Cjroner, Mr Cecil Roadley, The police have received no information of anyone having been missing, but it is possible tnat the corpse bda travelled for a considerable distance down the river.
