WEYMOUTH.
PRIVATE J. M.LEOD FAREWELLED.
The residents of Weymouth assembled in the Parish Hall in force on Friday, September 22nd, to bid farewell to Private James McLeod, who as a member of the 18th Reinforcements, was home on final leave. The proceedings took the form of a social and dance. In presenting Private McLeod with a handsome wristlet watch, subscribed for by the residents of the district, Mr P. Roy spoke in glowing terms of the high esteem iu which Private McLeod was deservedly held by the people of the district and he congratulated Mr and Mrs McLeod for setting such a fine example in sending three of their sons to fight for their King and country. Piivate McLeod suitably acknowledged the gift and also took the opportunity of thanking Miss Hewitt and the children of the School for the parcel of " goodies " which he assured them would be very much appreciated. The following contributed musical items during the evening, viz., Mesdames P. Roy and J. McGreal, Miss I. Yardley, Messrs T. C. Seaton, A. G. Mabee, T. J. Corin, U'Connell, G. F. Druoe, J. Flee and J. Evans. The musical programme was under the capable management of Mr P. Roy and Mr J. McGreal was an etficient M.C. fur the dancing. The Misses I. Kilgour and R. Williams supplied the dance music.
