DAFFODIL SHOW. With strong support from the whole of the distiict the annual Dallodil Show held recently in the Public Hall was highly successful both from a spectacular standpoint and for the object it was held, viz., of assisting the Belgian Relief Fund. The provision of afternoon tea was in the capable hands of a strong band of willing helpers, in charge of Miss Sutherland. A musical programme that enlivened the proceedings during both the day time and evening, was contributed to by the Misses Dowe, Hamilton and Mrs W. Stephens. All the articles that remained at the latter end of the evening were very kindly auctioned by Mr C. C. Munro who repoited a good sale. Great credit is duo to Mrs W. Dawe, the secretary, as it was due to a great extent to her efforts that the Show passed off so successfully.

Serious consideration is being given by the management of the private telephone exchange to a scheme for replacing the present separate wires to Ardmore and the East Road with three wires in each case. The total number of subscribers to the exchange is 77, made up as follows : Ardmore wire 23, East Road 19, North Road 16 and Otau 14. Difficulty is experienced at times in getting the subscriber who is wanted and it is with a view of overcoming that drawback that steps are now being taken as indicated. A football match between Pakeha and Maori was played on the show ground on Saturday last, a charge of Is being made to assist the fund for tho establishment of a memorial to the soldiers from this district who have fallen iu tho war.
