Dalmatian Commission.

'TO THE EDITOR."! Sir,— I am sure that not only myj self but all who have a knowledge of the Slav problem as it exists in Europe, and particularly those who also have had personal knowledge of these Dalmatians in the Auckland Province, will be pleased that the findings of the Commission, as published set forth so that all men may know, that instead of these Dalmatians being enemies and inimical to the country they are as staunch to the Allies as we are ourselves. Not only are miny of them fighting for us but the major ity of those physically tit are ready to tight for us if we would let them. Iu this connection here is an excerpt contained in a letter I have received from one of my nephews, E. W. Waters, written from the tiring line in France dated 30th July. " This morning, Ist August, I received a " Pukekobe Times," and in it I notice a letter of yours re Dalmatians ; I am very pleasad to see you spoke up for them. I have seen several of them here and in fact I have four right alongside of mo now. Bettor 6o)diors could not be found anywhere They will do me to be alongside of. I assure you we could do with a lot more of them." It is therefore gratifying to know that not only the stigma of disloyalty which must be so trying to this deserving portion of our community has been entirely disproved by tho Commission's investigations but that their roord for industry, sobriety and as law-abiding citizens compares more than favourably with our own peoplo among whom they reside. It is to be hoped that tho publication of the Commission's findings will put an end to the clamour for internment raised by well meaning but, on the Slav question, inadequately informed members of our community.—l am, etc., JOSEPH HENKY. Patumahoe, September 213 rd, I'JIG.
