AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKET REPORT.
Mr J. Jones, Auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland, reports under date of Saturday last as follows .
Business in tho fruit and produce market tbis week has been fairly brisk. Local apples are short and selling well. Potatoes are in heavy supply and good demand exists Beed are now in great demand. Eggs and butter firmer. Poultry came forward in good supply but the market shows a weakening tendency and prices are a shade lower. Pigs are much firmer. We quote— Poultry—Hens, choice, 4s 6d to 4s 9d, good 4a to 4s 4d, ordinary 3s 3d to 3s sd; ducks, 4s to sb; gees*, 5s to 6s 6d; turkeys, gobblers 8b 6d to 13s 'Jd, hens 4s 6d to 6s 6d; roosters, prime 4s 9d to 5s 6d, good 4s to 4s 51, small 3s 9d to 4s; pullets, 5s to 7s 3d. Figs, 14s to £1 5s 6d. Farm produce—Potatoes, prime Southern £lO, new potatoes ]jd to 24, Southern seed potatoes £7 l'js to £8 10s; kumaras, 6s to 8s; swedes, £3 10s; pumpkirs, £5 10s; carrots, red, £4.
Dairy produce.—Butter Is lis to la 2d; eggs Is to Is IJd; chees*, 8d to 9Jd; hams, 9Jd to llid; sides, lid to 11 id; honey, 3sd to 4£d. Fruit —Apples, 13s 6d to 17s 6d; lemots, prime 8s to 9s, good 6a to 7s, rough 4s to ss; p.m. oranges, 7s 6d to 8b 6d.
Grain—Maize, 4s 6d; wheat 5s 6d; oats, 39 9d; bran, £5; sharps, £8 ss; barley, 4s 3d; southern chaff, £7 10s to £B.
