TURNING POINT IN THE CAMPAIGN.
In the current issue of "The Fortnightly Review," Dr. E. J. Dillon, writing on "The S : tuation and the Outlook." savs:
"The numerical relation between tin Austro-Germans on the one side and the French and Russians on the othcisiu'e roughly speaking, what it was ;it the outset. * But the British forces, which were insignficant at the start, have grown to formidable proportions before the fin'sh. And it is from this relat'vely new factor that the Teuton forbodes' the deadly stroke which will scttUi his claims to hegemony and givo a lasting peace to the world. The turning point in the campaign will, therefore, ho reached when tha British armies, fully provided with the wherewithal fur tak ; ng the offensve on a larg-* scale and following up successes, deal the enemy a stunning blow. •' For, in the judgment of these competent assessors, the one result of this two ..cars' exhausting campaign which stand* out clear and undisputed is that it Iki-s reduced the Teuton nation to such a state of flabbiness, that any severe shock administered would suffice to knock t over for good and end the contest. And tiVs knock-out blow can and will lie effectively dealt by the UritKh Army in its own good time. which will neither be hastened by the impatience of fri-nds nor deferred bv the .'xpedients of the enemy.'''
