BIG BEN'S BIG MOVE.
The famous clock at 'vVosTminstor known as Big Ben made a bjg move at 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, when the new Daylight Saving order came into force. Witlrn a few m'nutes of the hour the minute hands, each of which is 14 feet m length, were seen to 'e travelling round the dial nt an unwonted speed, the hour hands, which ire i> feet long, following at a more deliberate pace. Precisely at two o'clock by Greenwich mom time the two hands on each of the four dials pointed to three o'clock. In making their complete '•tclo of the dial, which is 2,' l feet in diameter, the nr'nute hands had each to travel 60 feet while the hour hands had each travelled about ."> feet. Th • acceleration was a very simple matter, and was carried out bv members of the staff of Messrs. E. Dent and Co., the well known clock makers.
