The meeting ot ratepayers convened Ly the Town Board for the purpose of ditcussirg the loan proposals was duly held in tbe Public Hall last night. Mr Ujnrs Fulton occupied the chair and spoke on the game lines as at the previous meeting, at which the proposal* were discussed. A motion by Mr Gubb, seconded by Mr B. Gerabgty, authorising tbe takirg of a poll for the purpose ot raising a loan of £12,000 was carried unanimously. Mr Fulton explained that the wife of a ratepayer or freeholder had tbe same voting power as her husband and that according to tbe Muricipsl + Corporations Act it would be only necessary, to secure a bare majority to carry the loan. At the conclusion of the meeting a vote or thanks to Mr Fulton was carried by acclamation. A memorial tablet in white marble, on top of a block of Belgium marble, was unveiled in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, luakau.
