PA'IKIOTIC LEAGUE'S AX HOME The monthly "At Home'' of the Whangarata Patriotic League was held in the school on Saturday, 26tb August. The month's wjrk waa nn view and afternoon tea dispensed. Mr Cruickshank had presented a bjokshelf to be disposed of on behalf of the League's funds, so Mrs Cruickshank was called upon to open the bottle of peas, count the number contained therein, ur.d so decide the winner (t the gift. There were 623 peas in the bottlp, and Mrs H. Lain?, who guessed 631), was nearest and so won Hie bookshelf. Mrs Cruickshank forwarded £2 11b, that ln-ing the amount raised bv her. The sum of Ms was collected at the meeting, and Master Sam Kapson donated 12a as the proceeds of the sale of his tern baskets. The parcels to be forwarded ior wounded soldiers will contain 12 shirt?, made by Mesdames Urewster 5, Donovan 2, looney, Eraser, IJ. Fulton, J. Fullon and Kapson one each; 12 suits made by Mesdames T Sueed 3, W. Smeed, Eraser, Brewster, Ludwig. Butterworth, Kapson, Marx, D. Eulton and Miss Nichol, one suit each; 13 pairs socks, made by Mesdames Ewing 2, Campbell 2, Coad, Cruickshank, Ilayward, 1). Eulton, W. Glasgow and Miss Hyde, one pair each, Mrs Butterworth donated one pair and Mrs Hideout two pairs; 12 towrls, hemmed by Mesdames Hideout and Campbell, senr.; 12 handkerchief?, hemmed by the school p.irli and twelve uniall r:il»M ot soap.
