Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows: We held a epecial sale of dairy cat'le at Pukekohe on Friday, August 25th, and had a large entry; more than the advertised number coming fcrward. Buyers were in attendance, and practically everything sold. Best cows brought irom £l3 10s to £l6 10s; second grade cows, £9 to £l2; aged and unsound £5 to £8 I0s; best springing heifers, £9 to £ll 10s; other heifers, £5 10s to £8 15s; bulls, £7 10s to £ls. At Pukekohe on Monday, August 28tb, we held our usual monthly sale. There was a full yarding of all classes of stock, and a large attendance. The demand was good, and vlues on a par with recent sales. The advertised 250 grown steers from the Hauraki Plains were a particularly good line, and elicited keen competition, selling at from £ll 10s to £l4 14s. The whole line averaged £l2 18s fii Two to three-year-old steers, £8 10s to £ll 10a; yearling to two-year-olds, £5 to £N ; heifers, saino age, £3 5s to £5 7>> Od; empty cows, £6 10s to £8 17s 6d; calves, £2 10s to £3 17s; weedy calves, £1 13s to £2 ss; small fat steers, £ll 10s to £ll 12s 6d; fat cows and heifers, £8 10s to £l3 7s Ud; dairy cows and heifers, £5 5s to £l2 2s 6d; bull?, £5 to £l3 10s;store wethers, £1 10s 3d; aged ewe?, in low condition, £l. Cn Wednesday at our weekly West field fat stock maiket choice ox sold to £2 7*, prime £2 Is to £2 6s, rough and plain, £1 13s to £2 2s ; cows and heifers, £1 lbs to £2 5s ; steers ranged in piice from £lO 17s 6l to £25 12s Od ; cows and heifers, £7 10s to £ls 12s 6d. The highest averages for stetrs included : 24 from Mr A. Muir, jun., Manurewa, £l7 19s 9d; eight from Mr W. Claud Motion, Otaua, £l7 6s3d; 11 from Mr James Potter, Pukekawa, £l7 5s 5d : eight from Mr W. Wright, Otaua, £l6 15s ; eight from Mr Ed. Bent, Waiuku, £lO 4s Sd. Extra heavy prime wethers, £2 3s (id to £2 5s 9d, heavy prime £ 1 19» to £2 2s, medium to heavy prime £1 15s6dto£l 18s unfinished £1 10s 6d to £1 14s 9d; best heavy prime ewes, £1 1 Is to £1 18s ; good ewes, £1 lls to £1 13s 6d, others £1 2s to £1 9 ; heavy prime hoggets, £1 9s to £1 lis 3d; gooj hoggets £1 6s 6d to £1 8s 6d, others 18s 6d to £1 55—1641 sold. Fat and young calves tame forward :n average numbers, and maintained late prices. Runntri made from £5 15s to £9 15s; heavy vealeis, £4 2s 6d to £5 12s (id, medium, £3 10s to £4, ligh'er £2 15s to £3 Bs, light £2 to £2 12s, small and ireshdropped 3s to £1 15s-96 scld. Pigs were yarded in full numbers, and were slightly easier in price; choppers brought from £4 15s to £7 12s 6d; heavy baccners, £3 16s to £4 Is, medium £3 10s to £3 15s, light £3 2b to £3 ?s; large porkers, £2 14s to £3, smaller £2 6s to £2 12s, small £1 183 to £2 ss; slips, £1 10s to £1 15?; weaners, 15s to £1 6s; suckers 5s 6d to 10s-283 sold.
