* At a'specialjmeeting.of the To»i HJka held on Monday evening las! io'Tonstfer the suggestion for, the formation of a borough, as drawn ni hy Messrs A. Willis and D. W, Jones, the matter was carefully cot sidered at length by a full Board and the plan'received wai provisionally approved ot, subject to soma slight alterations in the proposed boundaries. The clerk received instruction to convey'to Mr A. Will's the Board's thanks to him for assisting Mr Jones in framing the sc' erne. Another matter that came before tfce Town Hoard meeting, but was deterred tor consideration to the ordinary monthly meeting to be held next Monday evening, was a petition signed by about 65 residents asking fur a poll to be taken at the same time as the Town Board fiction in respect to a petition for the weekly holiday, now being obseived on Wednesday, to be changed to Saturday. Mr Toelly presented the petition. Prior to the children dispersing from the Put lie School on Monday afternoon . last a pleating little ceremony waa performed, Mr S. Evans, chairman of the School Committee, on behalf ot the children and teaching staff presenting Mr Harold Small, relieving assistant teacher, with a handsome ret of military brushes, air D. W. Jones, the headmaster, also made a few remarks in appreciation of Mr Small's capabilities as a teacher. Mr Small, who is going into the training camp, suitably acknowledged the gitt. On Thursday of last week a quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at the Papakura Catholic Church, when Miss Annie McCarthy, second daughter ot Mr Thomas McCarthy, of Papakura, was united in the bonds of matrimony ot, Mr Richard Whitford, eUest bod of Mr Whitford, cf Whittord. 'The Kev. Father Buckley officiated, and Miss L. McCarthy, sister of the bride, and Miss R. Lanigan were bridesmaids, Mr W. McCarthv, brother of the bride, being best man. A wedding breakfast waa served at the bride's home, ard the couple l'ft for Hamilton, where they are to live. A fresh a*pirant Jfor a srat on the Town Board is Mr J. E.'Hampton, who has definitely deeded to seek election.
