AUCKLAND SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
Scripture Examinations. Franklin District Awards. The examinations in Scripture knowledge annually promoted by the Auckland Sunday School Union was held this year on July 12th. Thirteen hundred and sixty-two candidates sat for examination, a slightly less number than last year. Those receiving the three highest marks in each grade receive honours prizes; all candidates securing 85 per cent of marks are awarded prizes. Those receiving 70 to 84 marks are ontitled to an honours' certificate ; 55 to 69 marks earn a first-class certificate ; 40 to 54 marks are allotted a secondclass certificate. The first grade comprised teachers only. The subject for examination was " The Art and Principles of Teaching," the text book used being " The Teacher," one of the Canadian teachers* training series. Other grades were examined in the International Lessons for April, May and June, which cover a portion of the story of the early Church as recorded in chapters nine to sixteen of the Acts of the Apostles. The following are the names of candidates in the Frauklin district who are entitled to prizes and certificates : First Grade—First-class certificate : J. A. Blake, Fukekohe Presbyterian, 55 marks.
