STARTLING DISCOVERY ON VESSEL FROM AMERICA. A bomb was discovered recently on board a large cargo steamer alter she had arrived in England from the United States and discharged her cargo. Tho bomb, wl» : ch was made ot topper, was about o inches long by .?.} inches wide, the ends being spheroid shaped. It was found in what is called a " rosebox" in tho bilges of the ship. The rnsebox : s an iron box about 2 feet square, by IK inches deep, with perforated sides, and jt is from this box that the suet'on pipes draw the water which drai'ns into the box from tho bilges of the ship. From evidence tonnetted with the cleaning out of the bilges- it is certain that the bomb was placed in th<- rosebox iust prior to the cargo of grain being placed in the hold immediately over it. Once the cargo is loaded tiie roseboxes are complete!. - inaccessible. I! : s believed that the bomb was phi'-od on bond by individuals fin the employ of the company which loaded the era in) who had been working n tho hold just prior to tho erininieiicemenfc of the loading.
