WAIKATO RIVER BOARD SPECIAL RATES. NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to the provisions of the River Board's Act, 1908, and the Waikato River Board's Act, 1912, and all other Acts enabling it, the Waikato River Board intends at a special meeting to be held on SATURDAY, 26th day of August, 1916, at the Office of the Board, Mercer, to pass a resolution, intended to operate as a Special Order, striking and levying A Special Rate upon the capital values of all rateable properties in the Roto Ngaro portion of the Whangape sub-division within the boundaries of the Waikato River Board's district for the £BSO loan for lowering the Roto Ngaro Lake as follows, viz,, A class lands—ld in the £ B class lands !$d in the £ C class lands—! id in the £ And a Special Rate upon the capital values of all rateable properties in the Maungatawhiri sub-division within the Waikato River Board's district for the £SOO loan for clearing the Maungatawhiri Stream as follows A class lands— lid in the£ B class lands—'.jd in the£ C class lands—J «d in the £ Such rates to be for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1916, and eading the 31st day of March, 1917, and to be due and payable to the Collector in one instalment at the office of the Board, Mercer, on and after the 30th day of September, 1916. Applications are invited for the position of Ranger to the Franklin County Council returnable on the 15th day of August, 191<>. The succeesful applicant must pay all expeuses iu connection with the carrying out of his duties. His duties will be to enforce the County By-Laws, including the impounding of straying stock. Salary £4 per week. Term ot engagement to end of November, 1916. Duties must be taken up on or before Ist September after appointment. . , No single men eligible for war service need apply: preference given to returned soldiers if suitable for the position. J. F. BOROUCH OF PUKEKOHE LOAN PROPOSALS. PURSUANT to Section ( J of "The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1913,' the Pukekohe Borough Council hereby gives Public Notice of its intention to raise a loan of £12,000 for the purposes following, viz 1. Roads and Streets Improvement, £2,500. 2. Installation of an Electric Lighting Plant, including all necessary machinery, buildings, mains and appliances, together with all incidental engineering, clerical and other expenses £SOOO. 3. Improvements and additions to the Borough Waterworks, including the acquisition of necessary land, and the erection of a new reservoir ; and engineering, surveying, and clerical expenses incidental to such work, £4,000. 4. Contingencies and Interest and Sinking Fund for the first year, £SHO. The total amount proposed to be borrowed is £ 1 "2,()( M The proposed security for the loan is a special rate of 7 12 of One Penny in the £ upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Pukekohe, and being an annual recurring rate for the period of ten years, or until such time as the loan shall be repaid.
