MK CLEI'HANE AND FAMILY FAKEWELLEIJ. A fare will tunction tendered to Mr and Mrs K. Clephane and family, who have purchased a farm at Ohaupo and are leaving the district within the next few days, was he 1J in Mr Clepbane'B woolrhed on the farm on Friday evening last, and was attended by a representative gathering from this and Buriounding districts. The function took the form of a concert and dance. Musical items were provided bv the Misgos Llephane, Hamsey and Meßsrs H. D. Carter and L. Gordon. L)uri n g the evening Mr J. Cerrand. acting on behalf of tbosc present, handed to Mr Clephane a silver-mounted walking Btick, and to Mrs Clephane and family a silver-plated fruit stand. Mr Clephane suitably responded un his own and his wile's behalf. Dancing was kept up till the early hours of the following morninc. A special feature of the function was a Maori baka given by a batch of natives. Mr Clephane and iamily will be greatly n.iseed ys residents of the diilrict, for dunrg a period of r,. yifits they took an active inter* =1 in s-cial affairs and were h,.rhlv respeclid. Mr Clephane is the member for the district on the WhangHmarino Koad Board and on the Wpikato Kiver Bqard, while he was recently apprinted a director of the new Shipt ing Company which is to trade on the river.
