Electric Light For Pukekohe.
I TO THE EDITOR."] Sir,—l note that 11 a leader" in your last issue strongly supported tho installation of electric light iu Pukekolie as a municipal undei taking and I presume yoy would not have accorded the same your advocacy unless you were of opinion that it would be a profitable and not a losing concern. If, however, the prospects of satisfactory trading are so good I would ask how is it that no electrical firm or company came forward in answer to tie Borough Council's advt. inviting applications for the supply of light ? —I am, etc., DUBIOUS. [Our correspondent asks a pertinent question, but he may be reassured that an electric light system in Pukekoho would be no drag on the rates but rather a source of assistance thereto. A private company looks for fairly large profits which Pukekolie, anyhow for some to come, would be hardly likely to furnish. Unlike a Company, a municipality would, however, be quite content with getting a return of (say) five per cent on its outlay, which should certainly be forthcoming.—Ed iron.
