If reports are correct the forthcoming Town Board election will be keeenly contested. The names of several prominent ratepayers have been mentioned as probable candidates, while at the request of ratepayers Mr W. Gubb has consented to effer himself for election. Consideration was given at a

special meeting of the Tuakau branch cf iha Farmers' Union, held on Saturday evening last, and presided over by th2 president, Mr W. Youcg, to the concert and social to be given under the branch's aus-
