The N Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report: At Westfield fat stock market 0 n Wednesday beef was penned in average numbers, and sold at last week's prices. Best oxen sold to £2 7s per 1001b, others £2 3s to £2 (is ; cows and heifers sold to £2 5s per 1001b for best, others £2 Is to £2 4s ; steers sold at from £lO to £2O 15s ; cows and heifers sold at from £7 to £l-1 10s, Some of the averages were :—A truck of steers from Mr H. E. Eeed, Waerenga, £lB 2s (id; a truck of cows from the same vendor, £l4 10s. Calves weic penned in large numbers, and improved slightly in piices. Kunnois sold at from £0 15s to £8 17s (id for a heifer purchased by Mr Syduey Day, butcher, Ellerslie. Heavy suckers, £4 10s to £(i 4s ; medium suckers, £3 5s to £4 8s ; light suckers, £1 12s to £3 3s; small aud fresh-dropped, 3s to £1 6a. Sheep were penned iu large numbers aud sold at improved prices. Best wethdrs sold at from for extra heavy £1 18s to £2 os; others £1 12s to £1 17s (id; best ewes, £1 15s (id to £2 ; others, £1 6s 0d to £1 14s tid ; hoggets sold at frcm £1 3s to £1 8s (id. Lambs were penned in average numbers and sold at, best, from £ I Is to £1 5s 3d; others, 17s to £l. Pigs were penned in average numbers and advanced iu prices. Chop-
pers sold a f , from £ I 13s to £U Ids ; heavy baconers, £4 5s to £4 12s; baconers, £3 to £3 0s; heavy poikers, from £2 10s to £3 ; medium poikers, from £2 Is to £- 0s; light porkers, from £ 1 13s to £2; blips, £1 -Is to £1 10s.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sous report as follows : On Saturday, at Pukekohe, we held a special sale of dairy cows. More than the advertised number were varded. There was a large attendance of buyers and a most successful sale resulted. Best cows, due July and August, brought from £l-1 10s to £lO, more backward £ll 10s to £ll ss, aged and inferior £7 15s to £lO 15s, choice well-grown heifers £l2 to £1 1 10s, others £7 2s 6d to £ll 09, bulls £7 to £lO 15s, yearling to 18-months heifers £3 9j t) £:, 17s 6d. At the Tukekohe Yards on Monday, we held our monthly sale and for the time of year had a good yardiDg. There was a large attendance and all classes sold freely. Forward three to four-year-old steers, £l2 15s to £l3 10s ; two to three-year-olds, £7 to £ll 10s; yearling to 18-month steers, £1 15s to £0 10s ; heifers, same ago, £3 15s to £5 5s ; empty cows, £5 10s to £8 15s; good calves, £3 18s to £4 10s; smaller calves, £2 5s to £3 10s; small fat steers, £l3 10s to £ls ; cows and heifers, £8 to £'2 10s (these prices were equal to Wesflield rates) ; aged ewes in lamb, £1 Bs. At Mauku on Wednesday we held a clearance sale of Mr W. Nicholls's. The attendance of buyers was large. The dairy cowj, which were a choice lot, brought from £l3 to £lO ss, averaging £ls 10s, which is a record for the district two yearling calf heifers avereU £lO lis 8d ; sow pigs £5 to £8 17s (id.
