WAERENGA.
A farewell dance held in the hall on the 11th inst in honour of Messrs Hendon, Eickuall and Littlewood, who are leaving for the front, proved a very successful function The hall was comfortably tilled and Mr Horrock?, in a very able speech, conveyed the well wishes of the people of the district to the departing " boys," each of whom suitably responded. Mr H. Dimmock (violin) and Miss Appleby (piano) supplied excellent music and a very enjoyable evening was spent. As the result of the gathering tl © Patriotic Committee was enabled to forward £7 los to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, including £1 14s proceeds of a patriotic dance at Taniwha. Subscriptions were icceivod from Mrs J. Keith, Miss Jelleris and Mr Teddy, who were unable to attend. The Committee have decided to hold a grand plain and fancy dress ball on the 11th July and if the interest already takeu in the arrangements being made indicates that it will bo the event of the season.
