The annual meeting ol' the Pukekohe branch of the Farmers' Union is to be held on Friday evening next in the Borough Council Chambers. Particulars of a special sale oi dairy cattle to be held on Saturday next by Messrs Alfred Auckland and Sons id their sale yards at Pukekche will be tound in an advt. in this issue. Constable S. Flavell, who has charge of the Northcote Police Station, is at present paying a holiday visit to his brother," MrT. Flavell, of Pukekohe. Twenty-five farms, in areas of from 62 to 269 acres, being a subdivision of the Helvetia Ostrich Farm, are to be offered for Bale by Messrs Alfred Buck land and Sons in their sales-rooms in Auckland next Friday, at 2.30 p.m. Easy terms of purchase are offered and the land is adapted either tor dairying or general farming. By reason ot his son's forthcoming departure for military service, Mr Dell, senr., haß decided to give up dairying, and will in future only carry on "grazing" on his farm at Waiau Pa. He has accordingly arranged for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company to sell by auction, m their Pukekohe saleyard°, on Saturday, July Bth, the whole of his choice herd of 80 dai'y cows and heifers, as also one Alpha-de-Laval separator, an Englisn Bentall 2 J h.p. engine, etc. Particulars will be found in our advertising columns.

With increased cost of living causing great concern to householders, is is satisfactory to be able to record that such an important commodity as kitchen coal can still be bought in Pukekohe at an eminently reasonable figure, judged on the rate of prices as recommended'last week lor Auckland b.v the Board of Trade. The figures as suggested by the Board of Trade are:—Ton lots 335, half-ton lots 17f, sack lota 3s 2d, equivalent, deducting less freightage, to 31s, 16s and 3s respectively in Pukekohe.
