THE HOTEL LICENSE.
At tr.p annual meeting ol the Raglan Licensing Committee, held at Ngaruawahia on the Ist lost., Mr E. Rawson presiding, the police report referred to the sanitary dele's at the Mercer Hotel.
It.e proprietor, Mr F. Gimblett, was represented by Mr McMillan. Counsel stated that since the feport was made improvements bad
been effected to the back premises A pit had been dug and work undertaken that would improve the drainage. There had been no complaints lodged by the Health Department, so that it murt be taken for granted that as far aa the Department wa« concerned the arrangements were satisfactory. He added that the licensee had undertaken to have the whole place renovated, and that at present plumbers were engaged in a hot water service, and improving ihe bath arrangements. The great obstacle to making sanitary improvements in * the past was the lack of water, which had now been overcome. It was the licensee'* intention to build an additional six rooms, of which plans were to be submitted. The application was adjourned till next quarterly meet : ng cf the committee. An application for a provisional license, subject to work now projected being satisfactorily carried out, was disallowed.
