FRANKLIN A. AND P. SOCIETY.

The necessity of raising the annual subscription frorji 10s to 20s is a recommendation from the Executive Committee of the Franklin A. and P. Society that will come before the annual meeting of members to be held on luly 28th. In arriviim at such decision the Executive has been mainly influenced by the fact that if the annual Show is to retain the position it has won of being one of the leading shows in the Auckland province such can only be done by sufficient funds being available to place its prize list on an equality with those of its rival?, all of whom have the advantage of securing support from their members of a £1 subscription. At the last Show the Prime Minister, Mr Masscy, it will be remembered, spoke in glowing terms of the good work on behalf of agriculture the Franklin Society was performing, and in congratulating the Suciety on its possession of such a tine assec as the new showground he predicted that with the natual advantages of the district the Pukekohe Show was destined to outshine the metropolitan fixture. At the social gathering

given to the judges the visiting officials one and all expressed thair belief that a 10a subscription had become unworkable, having regard to the high stage of excellence and Btanding the fukekohe Snow had reached. In the ordinary alfairs of business the bigger a commercial establishment becomes the larger the recourse to capital. So it is with the Franklin A. and P. Society. Members should accordingly be prepared to unselfishly do tbeir little bit, by agreeing to raiS3 the subscriptio, to advance the interests of the Society so that the Pukeuobe Show may take the place of honour that is eo confidently predicted for it by those in a pusition to judge. Citizenship or residence in a district carries with it certain attendant responsibilities, which certainly include hearty and cordial support to such an organisation as the Franklin A. and P. Society.
