"WHERE PROPHECY MEETS HISTORY.
(Bv REV. LEONARD HILLS.)
This title is not original. It is that ot' an article in "India's Needs, which is a missionary paper published in Calcutta. From it 1 ouiv the following: "It- is absurd to think that tiie immense armies of the Anti-Christ, numbering. according to Rev. IX.. IG. two hundred millions, will be gatrered against a handful of Jews. It seems clear that the ton l"st tribe* will have to be found and re-united with .ludah. Ezekiel XXXVII. tells v.rv clearly that they are to be re-united sometime, and I think it must be before Armageddon. Now the question is, who are the ten lost tribes? In answer to that we should ask ag.iin, "Who have been the friends of the .lews? Have not England and America proved themselves most sincere friends of the .lews? Mnnv Bible students accept the Brit-ish-Israel theory. whVli is that the English people are a part of the ten lost tribes, and that America is the "branch that srrew iHvr the wall." What is more natural than that these two nations will stand with the .lews ill a last conflict against Satan's earthly hosts?"' The writer of the article from which the above is quoted has evidently the root of tiie matter. Prophecy meets iii-tory to-day in BritishIsrael. History to-day is but the lu'filment of prophecy. Prophecy i> but history written aforetime by tlie linger ol God. Personally we never call them the ''ten lost tribes.'' It is not a Scriptural term. Tiie ten tribes wer# "the kingdom."' The Bible says po. God says so. 1 Kings XI. 31 gives: "Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee": and XII. 21 reads that Rehoboam took' warriors to fight to bring "the kingdom'' again to Hehoboam, the son of .Solomon. These are sure marks of prophecy which meet historv to-day. Tiie kingdom of Israci in the "last days" was to be intact and known by "another name" (I-n. LXV' 15). It was to be chief of the nations (Jes. XXXI. 7.) Fo possess the gate of their enemies (Mistress of the Seas and strategic ports), ((Jon. XXII. 17). Lend unto many nations but should not borrow : ni'e over many nations, but ruled bv none. (Deut. XV. ~G.) Another very striking point where prophecy and history meet is—" A nation and company of nations." (Gen. XXXV. 11). Great Britain and the Oversea Dominions exactly fulfilling th's prophecy. There are many other identifications, but the above show that the nation of prophecy is Israel, aiid the nation of hist-iry is Great Britain. Great Britain or Anglo-Sax-ondom holds Israel's pledges, shows Israel's marks, does Israel's work, manifest the glory of Israel's God and H s fa'tliftil word is. Israel.
