On Thuißdiy, May 25th, we held a clearance sale at Mr A K Nelsm'e, Bukekohs. There was a very large attendance and hi«h values ruled. The dairy cows realised from £l2 IBs to £l6; farm gelding, £26 109; Black Orpington fowls, 5s Gd to 7b; waggon, £3O; potato planter, £22 1U; potato digger, £lO lUs; sea po:ato:s, 8s to 83 6d per cwt
We held our monthly sale in the Pnkekohe yards on Monday, May 29th, and-for the time of the year—had a good jatding. There was a large attendance ot buyers, arid a strong demand tor all descriptions of stork at higher values. Dairy cows and heifers sold at from £7 10s to £l6 15s, according to quality; forward-conditioned three to thiee and a half year old steer?, £l2 to £l3 ss; other three year olds, £lO to £ll 13s; two to three year steers, £7 15s to £9 17s; yearling to :8 months steers, £4 lfls to £6 ss; heifer-, same age, £3 15s to £5 ss; empty cows, £5 5s to £8 17s; best calves £2 15s to £3 15s; Hmailer, £2 5b to £2 13s, small £1 10s to £2 2i; smallj fat steers, £l2 10s to £l4 ss; fat cows and heifers, £7 lUs to £l3 2s 6d.
On Wednesday, Et our weekly Wfsttield tat stock maiket, we penned b'ef to the number of 373 head, comprising 258 steers, 108 cows and heifers, and 7 bulls. Competition was less keen than last week, but there was little alteration in »alues. Choice ox sold to £2 6s 6d, prime to £2 3s b'd to £2 ss, ordinary £1 19s to £2 2a, cows ana heifers £1 18a to £2 3s, Bteers from £lO 10s to £23, cows and heifers £7 10s to £ls 15s. The sheep pens were tairlv well tilled, but the quality on the whole was ordinary. There was a very strong demand, with a sharp rise ot from 2s b'd to 3a 6d per bead. No extra heavy prime wethers were penned. Heavy prime fetched £1 15s (Id to to £1 18s, medium to heavy. £1 lis 6d to £1 15s, light and unfinished £1 5s to £1 10s Gd, _ best heavy prime ewes £1 12i to £1 16s 6d, a truck from Mr John Cranswick, Matamata, averaged £1 15a 6d, good ewes £1 Ss to £1 10s, others 16s 6d to £1 4s-1581 sold. A few lambs were offered and sold freely. Best made £1 3s to £1 6s 6d, good 19s to £1 2s, others j6s 18s 6d. There wss a good demand lor the 77 fat and young calves, and prices were better than late quotations. Kunners brought from £6 to £7 7s 6d, heavy vealers £3 14s to £5, medium £2 13s to £3 13s. lighter £2 3s to £2 12s. light £1 15a to £2 2s, Btnall and freshdropped 4a to £1 10s. There was an average yarding of pigs, which sold at late rates. No choppers wer*> yarded. Heavy baconers brought from £3 10s to £l, medium £3 2s to £3 10s, light L'2 15s fo £•'{, large porkern £2 4s to £2 !2s, smaller £1 ISa to £2 2s. small £1 10s to £1 15b, slips £1 to X.\ 7s, suckers 8s to 151—188 selJ.
