MAOKI CEKEMUNY SEQUEL. f At the Mercer Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, before Mr F. V. Frazer. S.M., there was a sequel to tbe opening in February last of the Maori meeting House at Kobe Kohe, H. Valentire and Co., storekeepers, of Mercer, suing tbe Kohe Kohe Maori Committee, viz., Keretoki Te Ahu, Ngahivi, Waiwbanga, Piripi Fene, Amo Amo,
Pukekura and Andrew Maxwell,
for £lO3 lis 7d for goods supplied \. for the opening ceremony. Mr J. * (J. Haddow appeared for all tbe defendants with the exception of Kerctoki Te Ahu, who contended tbat be acted aa agent for all the Maoris concerned when purchasing the goods. The Magistrate gave judgment against Te Ahu for the amount claimed, £IOH lis 7ri, and crsts £G 3s, and non-suited plaintiffs against the other defendants, who were awarded ccsts amounting to £8 13s, and an order was made tbat those costs should be ?ddcd to plaintiffs' judgment against Te Abu, as the latter had misled tbe plaintiffs into bringing tbe other defendants Lclcrc the Court.
