Messrs J T Stembridge and K F Webster, at a J.F.'s Court at Pukekohe yesterday, when one of the natives, named White "Whiskey," was charged with having been drunk, and the other, Jo' n Hira by name, was charged with obstructing Coostsble Taylor in the execution ot his duty
Constable Taylor related the circumstances as al'eidy s:t forth, stating that about 5 p.m.. on Saturday he found a crowd of natives in Liverpool street and noticed that "Whiskey," who had evidently been fighting, ws drunk. He cautioned him, but agreed to Hira taking him tome in his motor car if thav departed forthwith. Instead, however, of starting away Hira proceeded to take "Whiskey" i-.to the backyard of the Tuakau Hot 1, and be (.witness) then arreted "Whiskey." Hira thereupon intervened and caught bold of him (the Constable) and a stru«gh loliowed, Hira being urged on by other natives, and Mr CraiK, who came to his aid, was stuck with a stone
"Whiskey" owred to being drunk but Hira pleaded not guilty, although be admitted that be pat bis bands on the Constable's fhouldeis.

The quarter-acre section, the disputed ownership of which was indirectly responsible far a prosecution at the Pukekobe Magistrate's Court some tew months past was by instructions ot Mr J Dilworth sold at auction on Saturday by Mr J T Stembridge. It i 9 a corner section, directly opposite the Catholic Chujft), oo the road leading from Tuakau to the W&ikato river, starting at £2O the amount quickly rose in £1 bids to £34, at which figure it was "knocked down" to Mr A Cathcart, of Onewhero L»r Cheesman, who is serving with the Third Auckland Medical Corps, has in a recent letter to Mrs Cheesman given a very interesting account of the work he was engaged in at Gaza, in regard to the sorting and distribution of the wounded CATBOLIC CriUKCH FUND CONCERT The fact that the previous concerts given by the Marist Old Hoys' Concert Company, come months past, was considered a musical treat and the Catholic community's desire to assist in reducing the debt of £l9O tn tne Church were responsible for the i'ulilic Hall being filled to the doors on Saturday evening last to listen to what proved to te one of the mo3t talented performances ever given in the district^

Mies s Williams and fulmar, ot the Pukekohe Convent, also assisting A feature of the entertainment were the items and singing provided by Mr J Lonergan, who excelled as an entertainer
The first portion of the programme took the form of concert items, while the latter half consisted of a minstrel entertainment,
intersperfcd with eongs and recita tiocs
Previous to the entertainment
Mf Eugene Casev apologised for having to alter the original programme. He said that the personnel ot the Company was changed as a result of 101) mtmtera of the Marist Old Hoys having enlisted, Mr I'at Clark, the conductor, being amongst the number. The success of the entertainment can be gauged from the fact that the nett profits will not fall far short of £3O Items were rendered as follows, viz.Songs, Missss Williams and Tillman.
