TUAKAU TO FORT WAIKATO AN IMPORTANT NEW ROAD Meanß of access between the important districts of Tuakau and Port Waikato, which at present is limited to a track over which in plac.s it is difficult for a person to walk, not to say drive, are to be placed in keeping with the advancement of those two districts. It was decided at the meeting of the Raglan County Council held on Wednesday of last week to expend £2BOO, plus JE2500 subsidy, on forming a road from Tuakau bridge to fort Waikato, a distance of twelve miles. The proposed route is of easy grade and with the exception cf a portion extending one and a-half miles, approximately, the grade being one in twenty, very few cuttings will bave to be made. The road will be the means of opening up a large area of country amounting to some 11,000 acres ad will indirectly bring into profitßbla use an additional 30,000 acres, all of which is rich vdcanic and swamp land. The road will cot only affect Port Waikato and Tuakau, but will be a connecting link over which stock will pass to Pukekohe
