KARAKA.

KARAKA ROAD BOARD. At the final meeting of the old Board, held on the 29th April, there were present: Messrs J. Batty (chairman), J. Schlaepfer anl Sutton, together with the clerk, Mr H. E. Glasson.

Tt was agreed to spend all the " thirds" available from tho Village Settlement in purchasing scoria for Moss' road. It was resolved to finish the culvert by Mrs Wallace's with the Board's team. With a view of arranging accommodation for the quarry plant it was decided that Messrs Thomson and Farrar should survey the piece of ground acquired from Mr Jamieson.

It was agreed to employ Mr Caddy to work with plough and scoop -m that portion of his road from his gate to Keith's corner.

The first meeting of the newlyelocted Board was held on Saturday last, the clerk, Mr H. E. Glasson, temporarily occupying the chair during the re-election of Mr J. Batty as chairman. The other members present were Messrs J. Schlaepfer and D. Jamiesou.

The clerk submitted a statement showing that the following balances remained to be expendod out of the £6OOO loan, viz. : No. I Ward : Drury-Waiuku road, £34 3s. No. 2 Ward: From the Public School to Glasson's, £l6 Us; Heard's road, £22'j ; corner Government block to Clark's. £150; Bryant and Ur<[Uhart's road, £180; Comrie's road to Sutton's creek, £6O ; Glassou's creek to boundary of district, £ll3 10s 2d. No. 3 Ward : East Pukekohe road, £63 Is ; Caddy's road, £7O ; Carey aud Bycroft's road, £SO ; Carey's road to crossing, £OS ; Howard's corner to Ellis' i orner, £65 : lllis' corner to end of road, £lll 10s Id ; Ellis' corner to Hussey'a lower gate, £3O 10s; Clark's hill, £25 10s.-It was resolved that the £7O balance Caddy's road should be expended thereou as far as the main road duiiag the winter, the Board's team to be used.

On the motion of Mr Schlaepfer it was decided to endeavour to hire the Pukekohe Borough Council's roller to roll the metal on Station road and the road leading from Glasson's creek bridge to the boundary of the district.

The second Saturday in each month, at 1 30 p.m., was lixed for the meeting day. Owing to no ratepayers attending the annual ratepayers' meeting it was adjourned to he held after the next Board meeting in June.
