Tuakau School Committee.

| TO THE EDITOR.I Sir,—l do not intend to be drawn into a newspaper controversy over Tuakau School matters, but there are one or two statements in your issue of the 2nd inst, over the nom de-plume of "Parent," that are absolutely incorrect and want corrrcting. For instance "Sines th 3 election the School has lost an able teacher. Most of us know why"; and then follows the insinuation that it is because of the draughty porch and want of srace. I am in a position to give Jtbis Etatement an emphatic denial. Again the insinuation: "The present Committee prefer this state of things to meeting the Northerners half way in regard to a new builiing. : ' I did the Northerners were to be consulted re a new building. If there is any consulting to do why have not the Northerners approached the Coxmutee who are the reeporsibie body elected by the majority of the hous:holders to kok after their interest? as far as the law allows. The Committee do not prefer this state of things, and have consistently, year in and year cut, as records will show, applied for additions to tbe schocl, and only tor people of "Parents'" calibre, who did their best to block them, would have had them over two yea:s ago. The needs of the scholars are beiry attended to, and will be attended to, to tbe best of the Committee's ability "Who will hold out the olive branch,'' says "Parent." Well here it is: Help the Committee who are going to do their teat for the children and are not going to let any controversy sLand in their way and they ask "Parent" and all such others to stop quibbling and assist tbem to get the necessary accommodation. Only lately a list was taken round for donations towards assisting the Board in providing extra accommodation but although JEIOO was raised it all came from the "Southerners."

Practical sympathy is the only sort that tells, and it shows which party had th 6 children's interests at heart. Trusting that "Parent" will come out in the open and assist the Committee, —I am, etc., EDWARD T FROST, Chairman Tuakau School Committee Tuakau, May 6tb, 1916
