KUAD BOAKL) ELECTION l'olling for the five seats on the Manurewa Road Board took place on Friday and resulted as follows:—Elected: W Brown 67 votes; A Muir, 62; G F Druce, 60; F Koy, 60; C Coxhead, 67. Unsuccessful: W K Perry, 24. Ihe successful candidates were the retiring members ot the Board
The annual meeting of ratepayers of the Koad Board's district was held in the board's offlce on Thursday, when Mr G F Drue* 1 , chairnian of the Board, was voted to the chair. Mr Druce gave a resume of the work done by the Board during the year. The treasurer read the balance-sheet and statement ot accounts, for the past year, showing a credit balance at 31st March of £199 Is Id. The clerk reported that the balance would be absorbed jn works in course ot progress, which were delayed in the first place through the contractors being busy. The report and balance sheet were both adopted Mrs .J Keyes was the winner of the handsome doll and bedstead that was raffled by Miss K Jukes at the Anglican Church bazaar last Thursday. The proceeds of the raffle amounted to £4. Miss K Jukes is to be complimented on the euccess that fcer efforts in that direction attained The new residence in course of erection on Mr T J Conn's property is to be fitted with elertric light and arrangements for the installation of a billiard table have been completed. The contract price is £IS2SU, and the building should be campJeted in six weeks
