Monthly Meeting,
j The usual monthly meeting of the above authority was held on Saturj day last, Present: Messrs A. G. C. Glass (Chairman), A. Lapwood, Cronin, Clephane, Prendergast, M. ■ Gallery, and the Clerk, Mr Ed. [ Hallett. After reporting that he had accompanied Mr J. P. Thompson, Govt. Chief Drainage Engineer, on an inspection of the river and its tributaries Mr Glass said that the conditions in the tributaries were in such a bad state that Mr Thompson had stated he would endeavour to have the £ for £ grants on the estimates for creeks replaced with straight out grants. '•ROYNING. It was resolved to complete the groyning in the river by extending tho work another 20 chains and to assist in the general scheme of improvements tho Chairman was deputed to arrange for a gang of six men to cut through a bank in Maiora Bay which was acting as a menace to the scheme.
SPECIAL lUIE. The following resolution was adopted, viz : —"That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £BSO at 5 per centum and one-half per ceutum sinking fund for a term of 21 years to be raised by the Whangape Sub-division of the Waikato River Board, for tho purpose of cleaning out. deepening or widening and straightening or altering the water course leading from the Whangape river to the Rotongaro lake, and for purchasing any plant, implements or requisites for the said works, the Board levy a special rate (to be fixed later) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Whangape Subdivision of the Waikato River Board." N
.MEKIER DOMAIN. Jn view of the improvements to the Mercer Domain as the result of tho Board's operations in the Pokeno creek, it was resolved to invite the Domain Board to contribute towards such work. IHREMAN'S REI'OKX. The foreman reported as follows: —The willows from the Maori landing to Mr Pope's property had been ringbarked and eight had been removed. The creek had been cleaned of vegetation from the centre of Mr Pyue's lake to the Maori road, a
distance of live miles at a cost of £7N. The men would be starting to clean the creek from the railway bridge to Mr Pyue's lake immediately,
