It is understood that Captain Harold Walters, of the Mounted Territorials, has signified his intention of enlisting. The promotion of Gunner Middlemas, of the Machine Gun Section, to the rank of Sergeant nas been announced. In the list of successful candidates in the Senior Free Place Examination held in Auckland recently, Miss Gweu Cole, daughter of Mr E. S. Cole, was placed seventh ou the list of the 18'.»3 successful candidates. Miss Cole wa< particularly successful in English. She was educated at the Papakura public school, of which Mil). W. Jones i- headmaster.
