MERCER.
Mr Ed. Hallett, secretary of the local school committee resigned from that position at the householders' meeting on Monday evening last. His untiring energies formed the subject of eulogistic references and the meeting was anxious that Mr Hallett should re-consider his decision. This, however, being futile, Mr H. D. Carter undertook to. carry out the secretarial duties.
