DRURY

Last Friday night an enjoyable gathering tcok place at the newlyerected residence of Mr Jamea Fitzgerald, when neighbours from far and near tamed out to a "house warming" and to enjoy a few hours of social intercoms'. Dancing was provided for the young, games, etc., for tha more mature, and speeches galore for those wha like a feast of rerson and a How of soul. The speakers cne and all wished Mr Fitzgerald a long life to enjoy the fine bous> he has built, and in neatly turned phrases Mr FitzgeralJ. returned thanks for tte many kind things siid, and incidentally gave a meed of praisa to Mr J Flanagan, who was aicbitect and supervise for the building, and to Messrs Swan and Lodge, the builder?. After a hearty, supper hyl been partaken ot and the host honoured with the old time chorus 'He's a joy good fellow - ' dancing and jollity were indulged in to the wee short oors ayont the twae'. Tte musicians were Mesrs A and (J Sutherland end B Coesey and they held up their end in good Btyle. As an M.C. Mr W Tooman is hard to beat, and all are agreed that the function was worth going miles to attend Oi a r<cnit date Mr and Mrs W Hamilton invitel a number of friend j to an afterncon at home for the purpose ot meeting their daughter recently married, who was up on a visit. A rich repast was provided for the gues's and a very enjiyable time was spent by those who availed themselves of the invitation. The auests were mostly the lady friends ot Mrs Hingley and some were old tchoolmates The late rains have freshened up the pastures, but as yet we have not had enough to do lasting coof, and farmers are becoming anxious as to win'er feed. The milk yield has gone down very much lately, and there is not much hope of improvement now Recently the Anglicans gave their God's Acre a thorough good cleaning up, and now the Fresbyteriars have awakened from their lethargy, and are having theirs put in order, all ot which means improvement in the look of the cemeteries
