KARAKA ROAD BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Road Board was held on Saturday last, the members present beiug : Messrs Batty ( chairmanKidd and Schlaepfer. Gazette notices were received proclaiming the closing of the two portions of road through section 14 and between lo and 11 (Eartland's), and the old unused road between 12 aud ol Laud Co.) It was resolved that the clerk should try to get Mr R. Sprague, Pukekohe, who blasted the stumps at the approach to the Whangamaire Bridge, to blast out some iiine trees on the same road through Mr Glasson'-i land, and it was agreed that the Board should pay for the removal of the shed at the approach to the Whangamaire Bridge. Some correspondence with Mr Lockie Gannon relative to the projected bridge on Heard's road was road, but it was decided ou account pf the of the season to deter the work till after the winter. Only one tender, 10s a chain, was received for clearing Ferry Road and it was agreed to accept this conditionally. it was agiead to let them have eome metal at 4s. Accounts totalling a little over £SO were passed for payment. At the instance of the County Council a meeting of ratepayers of the Karaka Road District has been convened for Thursday evening next in the Karaka No. 2 School, for the purpose of discussing the question of merging the district into the County. Crs Flanagan and Henry will address the meeting. Notice is given in our advertising columns that a general election of the Road Board will be held on Thursday, May 4 th, the last day for nominations being Friday, April 28th.
