HUNUA.

On Friday evening last a large number of the friends of Mr J. Forrest met in the Public Hall to tender him a farewell social on the eve of Lis departure for Trentham. Mr Forrest has been manager of the Hunua creamery during the past three years and by his obliging manner has become very popular with all sections of the community. He holds the rank of corporal in the Territorials. On behalf of the residents of Hunua Mr Lockwood presented Mr Forrest with a wristlet watch. A stirring recruiting speech was also made by Mr J. Flanagan, chairman of the Franklin County Council. Special songs were rendered by Quarter-Master-Sergoant Poile and Messrs Ferguson and Pratton. Mr Forrest went South by train on Saturday.
